Changing Mat

Changing Mats can come in all shapes and sizes, there are those that will slot onto your standard wooden dresser or changer, some which are a little more foldable and transportable and others that are solid backed designed to sit across the end of your cot or cot/bed. Changing mats in general have a transportable nature to them, even a standard PVA covered mat is light enough to bring upstairs or downstairs depending on the time of day. Most standard changing mats have a raised side which prevents baby from rolling off as they become more active, this raised side can also assist in containing any spillages should nappy changing become more eventful. One of the main advantages of having a PVA changing mat is the ability to wipe clean should any accidents happen. Sometimes we would hear concerns over the PVA being cold against a baby’s skin, this can be remedied by simply throwing a Muslin cloth over the changing mat before lying baby down. It is possible to get a changing mat with a towelling mat in the middle section to increase comfort, while really comfortable it may increase the laundry pile a little!
